Program Description

JOURNEYS Education Kits offer object-based and multimedia learning tools for classroom use to learn about Japanese Canadian internment. The kit includes historical artefact replicas, primary and secondary source documents, and sample lesson plans suitable for students from grades 5 to 12.   • COVID Precautions

    Kits are quarantined for a minimum of one week in between loans to prevent viral transmission from one classroom to another. We recommend limiting the number of different people handling the objects, and using nitrile gloves (not provided) if multiple people handle the objects.

    NNMCC Auxiliary has generously sponsored the cost of kit rental and shipping if outside the Lower Mainland for the 2020-21 school year. After funds expire, $40 plus 5% GST for 3-week rental, plus shipping costs.

    Program times indicate when kit can be picked up or returned to Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre: Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
